Hi, my name is Carolyn and I am the new Driving Miss Daisy representative in the central Waikato region, including Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Tamahere, Pirongia and Karapiro, including rural areas within these boundaries.

Having lived in Auckland for most of my life, I have long wished for a lifestyle change and am now resident in the Waikato with my partner Ray.  I have two adult children in their 20s who have now flown the nest.

My work history to date has been with large companies such as Holeproof, Kellogg’s and most recently in the Audi division of European Motor Distributors and although these positions have afforded me many skills, I feel I have reached a stage in my life when I wish to be involved in more of a community role rather than lining the pockets of corporate giants.

Last year my mother suffered a debilitating stroke which turned her from a fit, healthy, happy person who was totally independent and bred show-quality dogs, into a semi-paralysed, frustrated shadow of her former self.  This experience has made me realise the vulnerability of us all and the need to understand and assist those less fortunate than ourselves.  Luckily Mum has retained her intellectual function despite her seriously compromised physical ability, so we are able to find the amusing side of things on most days! 

I have always tried to be considerate of others and to treat them as I would wish to be treated.  Driving Miss Daisy gives me the opportunity to do this and share my interest in the wisdom of the elderly, as well as my astonishment at the fun and imagination of the young.  I feel I am able to converse and communicate with people from all walks of life and look forward very much to doing so by establishing not just clients but friends through my Driving Miss Daisy service.
