Driver of the Month August 2016 goes to Kapiti – Mary Grant
Phil, franchisee from Kapiti explains:
Mary is an excellent problem solver and has on many occasions come up with solutions for road closures and delays, however the latest effort was outstanding and drew high praise from the customer.
Mary had to get an elder couple to Wellington airport from Paraparaumu, a trip of approximately one hour, with time to catch their afternoon flight. They had been visiting from Cambridge for a relatives’ funeral.
At Paekakariki, Mary came across an accident scene, where Police had closed the road, she was delayed for one hour, during this time she keep chatting to the couple to keep them calm. She then phoned ahead to Air NZ to explain the situation and literally got the plane to wait while she got them to the airport and on-board. Because of the delay they could not take the couples luggage, so she organised the lady’s medicine to take on board (she was a diabetic) and took the bags to the freight department, paid with her own credit card and later phoned the couple to ensure they got home safely and had details of their luggage arrival. Wow!
